PLOT

'The Silk Scarf' by Ahmed Essop talks about Mrs Nebo, a very wealthy woman; wife of the upcoming Foreign Affairs Minister (Mr Nebo). She went shopping at the Oriental Plaza in Fordsburg with her friend Margaret, in the company of her two bodyguards. As they strolled around, she purchased an awesome Indian dress for which she had to find a beautiful scarf to pair with. She loved the scarf she found in Mr Sakur's shop. She unfortunately didn't have enough money to take it home. She asked if she could pay it with a cheque but Sakur had a rule of his own; he doesn't accept cheques. She felt very humiliated by the fact that her cheque was totally rejected. She tried to prove who she was to Mr Sakur, but he remained vigilant. Everything got chaostic, other shopkeepers came by. They were scared that this could risk their businesses, which on the other hand Mr Sakur didn't care about. Mr Sader had so much respect. He persuaded other traders to buy the scarf and present it to her as a gift. Until then, she thanked the traders for the gift.

Through the tunnel-Summary

'Through the Tunnel' by Lessing, it all starts on the first morning of holiday, on a beach in a foreign country; Jerry, an English boy and his mom ussually visit for holidays. Neither of them wants to be too demanding.      Jerry wants to explore a rocky bay away from his mom. He goes so far that he sees a blared vision of his mom. On the shore, he sees half-naked boys much order than him, burned smooth brown, speaking a strange language. He swims over but keeps a distance, he craves to be part of them. He gets exited as one of them waves at him, but they hate the fact that he is a foreigner as he draws nearer.
